A Day in Kotdwar

At a distance of 190 KMs there is a city known as Kotdwar. This city lies in hilly areas of Uttrakhand and is situated between the mountains. It is situated in the south western part of state and is one of the main entrance point  in the state of Uttrakhand. Kotdwar is famous for its temples like Sidhbali temple and Durga Devi Temple. Siddhbali temple is situated around 2 KMs and Durga Devi temple around 10 KMs from Kotdwar. Both the temples have their history and significance and are visited by devotees all around the year. Sidhbali temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman. It is said that saint Sidh meditated here for number of years and this temple was built to honor the great saint. Thousands of devotees visit this temple every year.

Reaching here is very easy as the city is very well connected via road and railways from number if cities all across India. Jolly Grant airport is the nearest airport around 110 KMs from Kotdwar. This airport is very well connected to rest of the airports of the country. Trains, Buses and Taxis are available for Kotdwar from all the travel points.

City has number of eating joints which serves mix of south and north Indian dishes. Mishthan is one of the best restaurant which should be visited.




For religious enthusiasts this place a good one day break from Delhi. Take your car and drive through the green belt of Meerut to reach Kotdwar. If you want to visit Haridwar as well, it is only 60 KMs away from here. You can spend one more day at Haridwar and Rishikesh.
