How about accessing your desktop or laptop using a mobile Android device? Have you ever thought about a solution that lets you access your desktop instantly from your mobile devices? If no, then Google Corp. might have a surprise for you by releasing an app that immediately connects a user to its desktop from his android powered mobile device.
According to an update on official Google Chrome Blog, the company has launched a Remote Desktop service that is nicely paired up with all your smartphones and tablets running on Android OS. Keeping it very simple to operate, the app needs to be paired by installing the Remote Desktop app in the Chrome browser, and the Chrome Remote Desktop app on your Android device(s). Once both the apps are installed and paired, the user can then access their home or work desktops from their mobile device.
Steps to install these apps on your desktop as well as on Android powered mobile devices:
1. Open the Chrome desktop app and enable ‘Remote connections,’ enlisted under ‘My Computers’ section of your desktop or laptop.
2. The program will now ask for a PIN of at least six digits to secure the access of that particular computer. This PIN number will also be required to be entered from the smartphone or tablet while trying to access that particular desktop.
3. As soon as you will create a PIN, your shared laptop or desktop will be visible on your Android device's screen. Tap on the icon, and enter the PIN number you’ve created on the host PC.
4. Once the PIN is confirmed by both PC and mobile device, you should be able to see your desktop on the portable device. The connection pair up can also be confirmed by the message stating that ‘your desktop is currently shared with XXXXXX@XXXX.com’ located at the bottom of the computer's screen.
Once you’ve successfully created the setup, users can easily swipe their fingers across the smartphone or tablet screen to view the content enlisted on their desktop. You can also move the mouse pointer to access you PC’s desktop from your 4.7/5-inch smartphone’s screen, however, the experience will be fantastic on a tablet and the credit goes to the larger screen coverage.
Just pair your Androids with those heavy and bulky machines and leave the stress of moving all your data from one gadget to another. This service is an ideal solution for those who reach business meetings without their presentation reports, as you can now view them instantly by just tapping on your mobile phone or tablet. It adds a lot of productive value to your gadgets as users can now remotely open an application, read documents, and browse the Internet using this screen sharing facility. The added advantage is that this Chrome service is absolutely free.
Access, view and read your content patiently, and just hit the button on the bottom of the screen to close the service and stop sharing. It is recommended not to keep this service on indefinitely, as it can interfere with games and applications, and also invites data stealers to your device. As it is offered free of cost, you can easily turn it on or off, when needed. So what are you waiting for? Install, pair, access and enjoy all your desktop content from your mobile android devices!
